when american's from such third rate schools are not getting jobs, do you seriously think foreigners with their funny accents and relatively poor English communication skills (I'm Indian and can tell you its still a second language to me) can get jobs??
The market has a way of regulating itself. As someone mentioned above, there were a a lot of H1 space available from 2001-03. But it never got filled because there were simply not enough jobs. Lets not try to set up govenment intervention here....let the free market decide....that is what made this country great.
btw, NumbersuSA, FAIR and other restrictionist organizations have zero credibility because they oppose even legal immigration.

maybe not. but does prevent the things that life is worth living for.
imho coming to the US was the worst mistake of my life. it took me about 5 years to see through the lies that the system, the employers and other desis propogate regarding h1 and prospects in US.
you can't get fair treatment as long as you are on h1. that is why the others will not let you get out of h1.

I do understand that our biggest goal is to reduce backlog. With due respect to your opinion, i suggest that we restrict to july fiasco first and then when we get enough traction with this issue, we can then focus on larger issues like backlog reduction etc.
Now that each one of us breathing hot and cold about july error, we better trade on that line.
Just my 2 cents.

You are seeing it from a complete 180 degrees than I see it. It's not us who's discriminating, it is the laws which are discriminating. I am asking them to treat us all equal, I entered the country on an H1B which was an employement based application it did not hav any country quota, then why should green cards for EB have country quota. Why should a person from India wait for 10 year and a person from Romania get it in 1 year....I think your ROW friends shold understand our position.

This is not going to be a concrete suggestions like the ones seen above in the page 7 of this thread. There is a large India Caucus in the senate (also in House??) and they are well tuned to the reality of situations. I dont mean that these efforts should narrowed down to a particular subpopulation of retrogression victims. This is just a suggestion with good intentions. Even if this India Caucus congress members may not have direct role in immigration bills, I wonder whether they could be used to approach other members with stake in this immigration legislation. I am sorry I dont know anybody in that caucus (wish I did).

Yep, I want to predict what USCIS may do,,, not what I want USCIS to do :)
The priority dates or per country limit does not matter for USCIS right now. My prediction is USCIS currently must be working on the following reconciliations in order to avoid duplicating visa numbers and wasting visa numbers. Unless USCIS have the correct number of visa requirements, the dates will not move forward.
Reconciliations
1. Converted or converting cases from EB3 to EB2
2. Two Sets of applications from the same family ( Husband and Wife)
3. I-140 from multiple employer for the same applicant (Both Hunsband and wife).
4. Two different Alien numbers.
5. The cases stuck in the name check and realased becaues of 180 days memo
Once everything is sorted out...its going to be one click away for USCIS to adjusdicate the cases. If DOS moves the dates before USCIS sorting out the above, they are inviting a law suits or Mandamus writ due to outside of processing time. Now USCIS is having breathing time by keeping the priority date backward. Probably, after all the reconciliations, unused visa numbers may be recaptured

I have a question regarding the 180 day rule. I am a July 2nd filer, got EAD and AP and did my FP. my I-140 was also approved in oct 2007. So, I will be meeting the 180 day rule and I-140 approved criteria in jan 2nd,08.
Can I change job after Jan 2nd or I have to wait for 180 days from the time of 140 approval date. I think if its from 485 receipt date, I do meet 180 days rule and am safe to move on with another job/employer.
I know this question should had been asked by other members also, but I don't want to search all threads.
Looking for some genuine answers instead of thread bashings.
