I am waiting.. and few more friends none of us got receipt. our checks got cashed on last Monday.
When do you think USCIS got your papers? (I mean add two days to your lawyers' filing date), and your check got cashed on 11th?

That is why it loos like there is a law that limits the # of AOS applications submiited in addition to the GC #'s that can be allocated: two completely different concepts.
AFAIK when you file the A number is allocated. That is the "visa number", and it comes from the country/EB quotas.
once that is exhausted for a country/EB, you have to wait.
it is not the CIS being mean. That is the way the Congress wrote the law. CIS is just enforcing it.

Done. It correctly showed the representitive and the senators. But I am not sure it went. Particularly the screen of advacacy to send mail to 6 frineds kept on coming up. If I don't receive confirmations to my account, I will send once again. Or I will call them also.

I am happy to announce that I have received the EAD cards today (just like rc0878 had suggested). I should not have doubted the encouragement and estimation of the experience here.
So, I received the EAD cards dated Sept 18th, expiry is one year from the issue date i.e. Sept 17th, 2008 (unlike someone else's cards which were valid for only 3 months).
Let me know if someone wants to ask any other information.

Dear mpkmaster, it is easy to ignore facts and throw stones like "your are rasist". And it is not easy to face the reality. Since you are so smart, I would like to ask you some questions:
1. Why there are long immigration lines in the US, Europe, Australia, Canada, Singapore etc, and almost none for Mexico, Latin America, Middle East etc. Maybe because these countries a full of "racists" ?
2. Tell me why some some people/countries can manage their economy and become attractive centers for immigration and other are just hell holes. There is a huge difference between Japan, S. Korea, China and N. Korea and they are populated by the same race - what has racism has to do with that ?
3. Why did you immigrate from your own country?
I will tell you one thing - due to my profession I have visited most countries in the world, including India. And definitely have a better understanding what is racism, what is protectionism, what is laziness, stupidity etc. Do not hide all these behind "racism", won't work...

yes that is true. I did not had any problem with mortgage. Atleast as of today, it is illegal to deny mortgage based on immigration status. If you have any idea of buying a house, it is better to do it before any law changes if at all there is one in the pipeline as you(madhuri) suspect.
It is all how you see your life. Just concentrate your energies on positive stuff you have. Finally we have decided to go back to India for good. I filed my EB3 in May 2003. Its going to be another 4 years to get the green card. When I went to India for vacation last December, we liked it over there & the economy is booming. There are all sorts of discussion regarding the Economic Gap/Politics/Corruption/Cleanliness. But we like it over there. Finally I will have an option to do something interesting. In US I was very much dependent on my monthly pay check and afraid to take even the slightest risk. I am also scared to use the AC21(Hey, thats the way I am). I am working with the same company for last 10 years, kinda stagnant in the last 4 years. In India, there are lots of choices, either to work for a sw company or start some business on my own. I think I will take the business route.
May be I can go there, earn well, send my son to US for college, do green card through him & come retire in US!!!

I agree that now their spillover policy is more horizontal than vertical.
Your numbers on EB India visas are fairly close to accurate. 2008 will be very skewed in EB India's direction. It is just that the demand is even more greater than that.
Those H1b numbers for last year were really an eye opener for me. Sadly unless they decide to treat those issues in tandem, ie cap both or uncap both, this issue is only destined to get worse, recession or no recession.
On your point about the data not backing up people returning, that issue is multi-dimentional. Sure, if you have come here laid down roots, bought a house, have kids in school etc, you will have a higher tolerance for this crap, but we are in a new phase here, where we have people who came here legally and are now seeing unprecedented retrogression in EB immigration. There is no precedent for this in EB immigration, even pre-Ac21 the retrogression was not as severe. When was the last time EB2 had sustained retrogression over 5 yrs for that long? EB3 for 8 yrs sustained? Additionally those factors I mentioned are real, US citizen kids, eligibility for benefits base on accumulated SS credits etc. The US will eventually have to come to terms with those issues as will the immigrants.
Also newer immigrants will have reason for pause in their decisions. Some(the best ones) may not come, others that come will repatriate their savings, will not buy homes, etc. All of that represents behavior that would not be in the US interest. Of course I am not sure US lawmakers think that deep, but just saying.

After two years in the US, I told my employer that I want to file for GC...
Going to and fro he spent 8 months sayign that he is in the process of doing it...Then he gave me the papers to sign...After that he kept telling me that the lawyer had filed it for one and a half year...In April 04 employer changed lawyers...The new lawyer tried to find all cases at the DOL...My case and one of my friends case is 'missing'...They telling me that is old lawyers fault.....They told us to file a new cases...I am sitting around since July 04.....I am so sick of this whole thing.....
July 04 was my chance to change job or go back...I decided to stick with the job...my bad...Now I am really stuck.....Am waiting for 8th year extension...Wife finishing MS in May and baby on way....I am stuck with dead end job...not well paid......

If you are saying that you want a temporary fix then I am sure a lot of people who are in the initial stages or are on just H1 will not support you. Do not say that it will indirectly help them because line in front will be reduced. They want more greencard numbers and no wait times.
You are trying to help folks who are near greencard in last stages only. Such narrow aim should be made wider to get more support.

Thats not true. My PD is March 2005. When my PD comes, I have to apply for EAD whereas others will get GC. Oh such a screwed up system.
